Redevelopment of abandoned old Ernakulam Railway Station near High Court as a major hub in the fast-developing Kochi City

The old Ernakulam Terminus (ERG) was built in 1902 by the erstwhile Maharaja of Kochi. It was abandoned in 1990 with the development of Ernakulam Junction and yard. The terminus is situated on 42 acres land and there is a track to the main line. This project is intended to rebuild the rail infrastructure in the terminus to world class standard as well to commercially exploit the spare land available. A DPR was prepared by KITCO with a total cost of Rs. 505 crores in Phase I. it is proposed to take up this project as PPP model.
